NSW ENERGY SAVINGS SCHEME - D16 AND HVAC1

What changed, and what to do about it

Only the parts that touch air conditioning. Sorted by what you need to act on first — not by date.

ACT NOW

You need disposal evidence for the old unit

On a replacement, you now have to show the old AC and its refrigerant were disposed of or recycled properly. We are working closely with EC Focus to refine what this looks like. More details to come.

DO THIS

Let us know your current disposal or recycling provider and send us your last receipt or docket.

NEW - MORE WORK

Multi-split systems now qualify

D16 has been expanded to cover multi-split systems. Jobs that used to fall outside the activity can now carry a rebate. To obtain the estimated rebates on multi-split systems contact our office.

DO THIS

If you've been turning multi-split work away or quoting it without a rebate, stop. Quote it like any other job. Contact us for estimated rebates.

TAKE NOTE

A claim can't be started after the ODU install

Not a change, but the one that costs the most money. Once the outdoor unit is in, the rebate on that job is gone for good. Both the Nomination and Site Assessment Declaration MUST be signed BEFORE the outdoor unit is installed. Jump the gun and you miss the opportunity to claim.

DO THIS

Submit your claim in the app when the customer has accepted your quote, not after the install is complete. Once the ODU is installed there's no claiming.
